I tend to buy in spurts - and I'm spurting a lot lately... :|
Dolls aren't our problem; it's the clothes and accessories that are taking over.
It's interesting what different people consider "limiting." The one-a-year crowd would consider me excessive, I'm sure, with my one-AG-every-two-months rule. It works for me, since two months seems to be a good amount of bonding time. I've been very good at sticking to that rule for AG, but I've failed miserably at limiting other doll purchases. So far this year I've purchased 14 Bratz, four Barbies, two GlobalFriends, one EuroGirl, and one Cuddly Sister, plus Ana Ming from Carpatina is due to arrive in July and I just ordered Summer from West Coast Kids today. BUT no AG's yet this year, which means I'm due to get Elizabeth shortly! Some people think "the more the merrier," some want to just have a few special girls; I say that as long as it doesn't take over your life and you can reasonably afford whatever your level of spending, just do what feels comfortable!

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">I'm much the same way on both counts. When there is a code to use, I buy a lot. I also have gone through major ebay phases. My problem is mostly clothes, though - especially nice handmade ones. I only have four dolls, but I have too many outfits to count.Originally posted by kboyd912:

I think the clothes preference has to do with the way I was brought up. Each of my sisters and I had one doll, and since they were so expensive, we were happy to have just the one and get clothes for her. In terms of money, for some reason it seems much more extravagant to buy a new doll than $100 in outfits.
At the moment, though, I am low on both space and money, so I haven't bought much since the last big code expired. That's one reason I haven't been on the board much lately - too much temptation!

Most of my AGs had 3-4 yrs between them! Elizabeth and Nellie were exactly a year apart (my birthday gifts the past 2 yrs), and that's the closest my dollie arrivals have been since Hannah Rose and Josefina in the spring and fall of 97. It does make getting a new AG more special when it doesn't happen so often. I'm not into buying multiple AGTs, so I have most of the ones I really want at the moment, though there are a few AGTs that are quite pretty, and I still might go for Molly one day. Perhaps if they come out with an AGT who really looks like me, I'll cave. Right now, the closet is the one with light brown hair and green eyes- I don't have the numbers memorized like many of you- but I no longer have bangs, and my hair has a curlier texture.
well hmmmm I've bought myself my first AG since I got Felicity as a gift back in the early 90's. So I think that'll be it for me, I like only having a few (can get more outfits!). Plus since I don't really have a job at the moment, my birthday money was the only way I could afford the new doll. My student loan money goes to rent, food, bills, etc grr plus my really big hospital bill. So its hard for me to spend that much on a doll without feeling guilty or worrying about paying the bills. So *shrugs* I might get another doll years down the road, when I do have a steady job and whatnot. Plus can't forget the ponies, those are fairly cheap for me since I don't buy/like a lot of them haha

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">I totally agree. My DD who's 8 has one AG and one Bitty baby. I on the other hand have 38 18" AGs and 3 babies. When she grows up, gets a job, and can pay bills, etc, she can spend her money as she chooses.Originally posted by Melissa*Olivia:
We each have our own way of doing things, including our doll spending and buying patterns. That's one of the delights of being an adult.
